Candy is 100% right about local networking. I was horrified about doing local networking because I am NOT a salesperson A friend introduced me to Deb Villarese (www.StartYourOwnLeadsGroup.com) who's an expert networker. She completely alleviated my fears about networking, and gave me a great tip for being part of a leads group. (I had heard of them but never knew how they were different from networking.) She explained it to me and made it sound so easy. I joined a local leads group (I was the only VA in the group) and found TONS of business - not only from the people in my group, but their business associates. Who knew? (Thanks for sharing that tip, Candy!)

I do all kinds of freelance work and Candy is correct. Personal networking is best and I agree with Candy's advice of NOT to sound like a salesman, be yourself and be genuine. One great source of clients is to look for something like a YOUNG PROFESSIONALS and CHAMBER of COMMERCE after hours get togethers. They are well worth your time.
